After many years teaching in LA, Wendy brings her much-loved Improv for Writing and Intro to TV Comedy Writing workshops to New York.

WRITING COACH

Wendy Goldman’s deep understanding of the creative process, background in improvisational theatre, and extensive knowledge of the film and television industry make her an ideal teacher for anyone interested in perfecting their craft. A writer herself, Wendy’s classes are a fun and supportive environment where ideas can flourish without risk. Especially designed to appeal to writers from any discipline, novice to experienced, students are encouraged to learn and grow at their own pace.

Plus, there are snacks.

IMPROV FOR WRITING

Nothing to prepare. No homework. No performing. The class is intended to be light, deep, serious, funny, whatever the moment calls for. It is process oriented rather than results oriented. But the short pieces you create could be the seeds of longer projects you never dreamed of writing. A play? Novel? Screenplay? When you let go of the reins, no telling how you’ll surprise yourself.

Care to play?

TV COMEDY WRITING

In this class, we’ll screen and analyze a variety of TV comedies with unforgettable characters and crack the code of how their relationships keep us coming back week after week. Writing exercises will give you the tools to explore your own characters’ inner lives and the emotions that drive them. New and experienced writers welcome. Hone your individual comedic voice in a fun, supportive setting.

You’ll leave with a head start on a TV show that only you can create.

Wendy Goldman has helped me with my writing countless times. The process is a tricky one, and sometimes I get overwhelmed, frustrated and feel like I’m just lost. Whenever I feel that way I call Wendy! She thoughtfully reads my draft and then talks me out off the ledge! Not only does she bring a ton of experience as a writer to the table, but she also has a way of making you feel like the world is not ending, and there is a fix to your story! I can’t say enough good things about not just her sense of story and character, but also her warmth and thoughtfulness.
